Saturday Epiphany Week

Today’s Mass Readings

by Fr.  Rick Pilger, I.C. Pastor

Saturday Epiphany Week

John 3:22-30

Once a person experiences this love for Jesus and the joy his love brings, everything else takes a back seat.

Think of the joy a young man experiences
when he gives his girlfriend an engagement ring
asking her to marry him.

And think of the joy bursting in her heart.

Two people declaring that they want to live
the rest of their lives for each other.

John the Baptist lived his whole life looking for the Christ,
God’s Anointed One.

What joy he experiences when he has found him…
“My joy is complete,” he says.

John declared to live his life for the “Christ” and nothing else.

Once a person experiences this love for Jesus
and the joy his love brings, everything else takes a back seat.

“Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan,
to whom you testified, is baptizing
and everyone is coming to him.”

I can just see John laughing.

There was no competition for John,
only his pure love for Jesus.

Let us ask John’s intercession to help us
consecrate our hearts and all our love to Jesus alone.
