The Annunciation of the Lord

Luke 1:26-38

“Yes” to God ushers in tremendous blessings in our world.

Three simple letters make up a word
that has changed the direction of the world,
and that little word from the lips of Mary was “Yes.”

That word was implied when she said to the angel,
Let it be done to me as you say.”

God who created the world
asks permission to enter into his creation as a man.

Every last one of us is being asked by God
to do something that will bring Christ into the world
in a way that no one else can.

We haven’t an Angel to speak to us
as did our mother Mary.

But there is something that keeps coming back to us
which God is asking us to do.

Sometimes we can come up with all kinds of reasons
why we can’t do it.

That is so true if we try to do anything without God.

If what God is asking you to do seems too much,
or too far-fetched,
just keep repeating those words over and over again,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
you have found favor with God.”

“Do not be afraid, Rick. Do not be afraid.

You have found favor with God.”

I promise you this, our hearts will burst with joy
when we say yes to God and mean it.

And Jesus will come into the world like never before.
