Monday 1st Week of Advent

Today’ Mass Readings

Monday 1st Week of Advent

Matthew 8:5-11

Jesus cleanses in us all that keeps him from entering under our roof in holy communion.

The Centurion had difficulty
welcoming Jesus into his home.

“Lord I am not worthy”.

He saw in Jesus what we know, that Jesus is God.

His objection went far deeper
than making Jesus “unclean”.

According to Jewish law,
Jesus could not enter the house of a Gentile.

But that couldn’t hold a candle
to the second Person of the Blessed Trinity
becoming a man.

How much more we cry out
as we approach Holy Communion,

“Lord, I am not worthy”.

When we receive Jesus in Holy Communion
into our house, He doesn’t change, we do.

We don’t make Jesus unclean.

He cleanses us.

That change in us changes everything in our life.
So let’s watch and wait as we live today,
more aware of the dignity we have
with Jesus living under our roof.

May all of our words and actions
reflect his Divine Presence to others.
