Monday 27th Week of the Year

Today’s Mass Readings

Monday 27th Week of the Year

Luke 10:25-37

Who will be neighbor to the next man who falls in with robbers?

Jesus paints a beautiful picture
of how he loves us
when he tells us the story of the good Samaritan.

He taught the lawyer and is teaching us
that God’s love that redeems and saves us
is not just words but deeds.

Deeds that involve time and effort,
like stopping our journey getting off our horse
and bandaging the wounds of another.

The wounds that Jesus heals in Holy Mass
through his suffering and death
are the very people we meet every day
when they are hungry or thirsty,
when they are un-learned or need a hug.

How about when we see someone who needs a little bandage,
we won’t mind stopping what we are doing,
get off our horse and
give them a little of our time
for the Lord to pour oil on their wounds?

Who will be neighbor to the next man
who falls in with robbers?
